Hotel, Flights, Annual leave all booked months in advance the time had finally come for my holiday. I packed my suitcase full of the essentials such as my camera, laptop and plenty of backup SD cards and set off for a weeks adventure in New York.
After a comfortable 7 hour flight with Virgin Atlantic in Premium class I touched down in New York’s JFK airport excited to get into the city to start exploring and photographing. Stepping out of the airport into one of the many iconic yellow taxis I took the short 1 hour journey into the city to arrival at my hotel for check in. Upon arrival at the 1 Hotel Central Park I was instantly greeted with a smile as I walked though doors and into the Eco styled lobby. Of course I had done my research and was well aware if I was patient I could get a slightly better room, So took the chance keeping my luggage in storage for an hour while I jumped right into exploring. My hotel only being a walk across the road from Central Park I felt it ideal to take a quick look around and maybe grab a bite to eat which I did at the rather posh Lobe Boathouse.
As always i’m not one to waste a moment when away cramming as much in as possible, I was able to experience all the major NYC highlights including, Central Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Centre (5 minuets walk from my hotel!), 5th Avenue, Trump Tower, Grand Central, Empire State Building, Museum of Natural History, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge Park, 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge Rooftop (the sister hotel of mine which has a fantastic rooftop bar overlooking Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan) Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, High Line, Word Trade Centre, 9/11 Memorial, the Oculus and more.
It was a shame the week had to end, Even though it felt long enough. It was soon time to say goodbye to my cosy hotel room and board my overnight flight from JFK to LHR. I could end up writing a novel if I was to go into all the details of my NYC adventure so will leave my photos to tell the story.
